Plasmacup® Acetabular Cup
High primary stability and a low friction bearing surface
The Plasmacup® acetabular cup system features and combines several important elements for cementless orthopaedic implants: The microporous Plasmapore® titanium surface with high primary and secondary stability, the use of the Biolox® ceramic-ceramic articulation components with minimum wear and the application of the OrthoPilot® navigation technology for exact implant positioning.
Plasmapore® surface
Plasmacup® features the proximal rough Plasmapore® titanium micro-porous coating for cementless implantation. Also implants with an additional 20 µm calcium phosphate layer are available. This thin layer has an osteoconductive effect and accelerates contact between the bone and the prosthesis stem.
Biolox® ceramics
Plasmacup® can be implanted with Biolox® delta ceramics, the latest generation of bioceramics for hip arthroplasty. The Plasmacup® delta series is dedicated to 36 mm cermic heads and inserts to increase hip stability and the range of hip motion. The ceramic on ceramic bearing surfaces guarantee minimal wear. The favorable wettability of the surfaces allows good joint lubrication. The ceramic material is extremely scratch resistant and at the same time totally biocompatible.
Modular inserts
The self-locking conical anchoring stabilizes the modular Plasmacup® inserts and prevents any micromovement. The area in which the resultant forces are concentrated is provided with the maximum material thickness. Optional anchoring screws can be orientated freely during insertion.
