The "Tummy Scope" Fetal Stethoscope

This professional stethoscope with a two-sided chestpeice offers high accoustic sensitivety for superior performance. A traditional bell is combined with a diaphram allowing you to switch between the two depending on your preference. The diaphram side can be used to detect sounds from within the womb such as kicks and hiccups whereas the bell shaped chestpiece can be used to detect a fetal heartbeat. Our deluxe, dual head, fetal stethoscope can sometimes detect a fetal heartbeat from as early as 24 weeks. Our Stethoscopes are backed by a 5 year warranty and are completely safe for mom and baby. Listening to the Fetal Heart

Starting at around 24 weeks, the fetal heartbeat can usually be heard without Doppler amplification (ultrasound). At this point a special stethoscope called a fetoscope can be used. The heartbeat is best heard over the baby's back, which often seems firm when you feel around the uterus. It may be difficult to hear the fetal heart by stethoscope if the mother is overweight or if the placenta is on the front wall of the uterus.
