Functions:

The design allows for many advantages over current incubators used both for refugee camps and in the 3rd world:

1. The Incubator can currently provide the same performance as 1st world Incubation systems (Stable Heat Environment, Humidification, Phototherapy Unit) and complies with British Incubation Standards.

2. The Incubator can be collapsed and placed into already utilised care packages for simple delivery and transport into refugee camps.

3. The Incubator can be powered from a variety of power sources such as a car battery.

4. The modular nature of the design allows for straightforward repairs to be made to the Incubator.

5. The simple control system allows for easy operation of the incubator increasing the likelihood of its effectiveness.

6. The inflatable material is not only the best insulator for the heat, but can also be easily wiped down and sterilised for sanitary concerns.

7. The transparent panels incorporated into the inflatable material allow for easy access to the child at all times.

8. Instead of the standard £30,000 for an incubator, MOM can be manufactured for a fraction of the cost.

MOM offers the safest possible environment for a pre-term child to thrive in, whilst solving many of the problems of incubating premature children in refugee camps highlighted through my research.
